CSI Firewall Shield

Network Security

Platform: VSE
CSI Firewall Shield safeguards VSE installations by limiting system access to authorized IP addresses.

DCSI Firewall Shield provides white list-based firewall protection that denies system access unless an IP address is specifically authorized.

Most VSE installations have a limited number of IP addresses that are allowed access to the system. CSI Firewall Shield provides security by default to limit access to specific ranges of IP addresses and associated ports.

CSI Firewall Shield uses the FIREWALL command to manage and monitor the blocking of IP addresses and ports. A QUERY FIREWALL command displays the current firewall settings.

CSI Firewall Shield requires the 1.5G distribution of TCP/IP for VSE™ from CSI International.

The CSI Firewall Shield PC component, CSI Dashboard™, includes the interactive PC Firewall Configuration Tool for easy firewall configuration.

Supported operating systems: Windows Vista SP2, Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 SP2, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, and Windows Server 2012.

Use the PC Firewall Configuration Tool to define port groups and IP address ranges and generate a firewall configuration file.

  • Port group definitions
  • Use the Port Groups menu to add new port groups. The port group list allows only valid port numbers and eliminates duplicates and invalid entries. Changes to the list are reflected in the configuration file preview at the bottom of the screen.
  • IP address range definitions
  • Use the IP Ranges menu to add new IP address ranges. The IP address range list allows only valid IP addresses and warns you if you attempt to enter an ending address that is lower than the beginning address. Changes to the list are reflected in the configuration file preview at the bottom of the screen.

When you have defined port groups and IP address ranges and are satisfied with the configuration file preview, save the file and FTP it to your VSE Power Reader Queue.
